Submissions / voting
We are in the process voting for our favorite submissions to the MAD, but it seems a bit unclear. Initially the were 46 entries, but now there seem to be more, even if competition closed several days ago. Are these included in the voting?
Some of the entries also lack video or have long videos, are these eligible finalists?

Hello Mark,
In total we had 52 submissions of which 47 are eligible for voting.
The ineligible entries either did not have videos, screenshots or meet the country requirement. As a challenge moderator, my screen is different from what you see (didn’t know the ineligible entries were publicly visible). I have made some adjustments in the settings, so you as well as other voters should only see the 47 eligible entries.
Video submissions should be no more than 5 minutes; however it’s at Samsung’s discretion to permit videos that go over the 5 minutes mark.
The judges will take into account (as should you and other voters) the 4 categories below when judging.
• Quality -Includes creativity and originality of the idea
• Implementation- Includes how well the idea was executed by the developer and how well the Solution utilizes the ARTIK IoT Platform
• Potential Impact on the California Water Crisis or World Water Consumption -
Includes the extent to which the Solution could potentially impact those affected by the California water crisis, and its replicability to other parts of the world
• User Experience -Includes the solution’s level of usability and user design
Hope this answers your question.
Thanks,
Chidi

Hi Chidi
Thank you for the clarification.
There were some entries added after the submission deadline ("Mirsaad" and the more recent ones), are these in the running?
So the video time limit is flexible, even if the rules seem to say that they have to be less than 5 min? It is hard to judge the entries with short videos fairly compared with ones that are longer. Are there any other criteria/rule adjustments that are at Samsung’s discretion?
Cheers
Mark

Mark,
Majority of the entries came through on the last day of submission – April 1. However, there were a few entries added owing to some technical issues - (Mirsaad actually submitted on time).
All entries that came in prior to April 1 was looked at by a moderator to ensure they adhered to the challenge rules, but since many submissions came in close to the deadline, the Samsung team/judges have yet to go through the full submission list.
That said, the team will definitely take into account all aspects of the judging rules (including your concerns) in making final decisions in their selection process.
We commend all developers that made an effort to submit to the competition.
Thanks,
Chidi
