Thanks for being a part of Samsung ARTIK’s Makers against Drought Challenge. We were amazed at the number of ideas received, and excited about the creative solutions brought forth to alleviate the water crisis, both in California and globally.

Makers Against Drought Challenge Submissions Due by April 1, 2016
For everyone competing in the Makers Against Drought (M.A.D.) Challenge, please remember to update to the latest version of the firmware for both the ARTIK 5 and ARTIK 10 boards. Please review the applicability of this update to the project you are building with ARTIK, and note that you should not update if you are using Temboo for your project.
To ensure that everyone competing in the contest has the time to make the most of these changes, we are extending the deadline for submission to the M.A.D. Challenge.

Around the time the news broke about California’s water emergency, the New York Times ran an impressive graphic illustrating how many gallons of water are required to grow the Golden State produce, dairy, and meat products that we consume every day. The data is arresting — 42.5 gallons for three mandarin oranges, 86 gallons for less than two ounces of beef — so we took a look at the data sources the Times used to generate their report.

Sign up for the ARTIK Alpha Developer program at artik.io and state in your application that you’re participating in our challenge.

Along with your application, you’ll need to submit your ideas or ongoing projects that are clearly linked to stabilizing water consumption.
